Four Illini Advance at NCAA Championships
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 21 Illinois women’s track and field team had a successful first day of competition at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, as four athletes advanced to another round of competition on Wednesday at John McDonnell Field. Juniors Angela Bizzarri (5,000m) and Aja Evans (shot put) advanced to finals of their respective events, while senior Deserea Brown and freshman Latoya Griffith qualified for semifinals of the 400m hurdles.

Fighting Illini Women's Track and Field
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Illinois women's track and field program picked up two major honors on Monday with the release of the 2009 Division I Regional Athletes and Coaches of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Fighting Illini head coach Tonja Buford-Bailey was named Head Coach of the Year for the Midwest Region, while junior standout Angela Bizzarri was named Midwest Region Track Athlete of the Year.

Wikoff Named to All-Ping! Baseball Second Team
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Illinois junior Brandon Wikoff (Peoria, Ill.) was named to the All-Ping! Baseball second team Friday, marking Illinois' second-ever honoree by Ping! along with catcher Lars Davis, who was Ping!'s first-team catcher in 2007. In earning the honor, Wikoff was honored as one of the top four shortstops in the country this season, as there was one first-team shortstop and three on the second team.
